All percentage calculations in one place
Percentage = (Part / Whole) × 100
Determines the percentage value of a number relative to a whole, or finds the value given a percentage.
X% of Y = Y × (X/100). Example: 20% of 150 = 150 × 0.20 = 30.
What % is X of Y = (X/Y) × 100. Example: 30 is what % of 150? = (30/150) × 100 = 20%.
Percentage Change = ((New - Old) / Old) × 100. If price went from ₹100 to ₹120, change = ((120-100)/100) × 100 = 20% increase.
Increase: New Value = Original × (1 + Percent/100). 100 + 25% = 100 × 1.25 = 125.
Decrease: New Value = Original × (1 - Percent/100). 100 - 25% = 100 × 0.75 = 75.
Percentage points measure absolute difference between percentages. If interest rate goes from 5% to 7%, it's a 2 percentage point increase but a 40% relative increase ((7-5)/5 × 100).
